Killarney is exploring the possibility of entering into a twin town relationship with Santeny, a small tourist town in the south eastern suburbs of Paris.
The Killarney Town Twinning Association chairman and secretary, Seán Counihan and Sheila Dickson, met with the Mayor of Santeny, Vincent Bedu, and the President of Santeny’s Twinning Association, Seynabou Diop, who were visiting Killarney and they discussed the possibility of a twinning relationship under the auspices of the European Partnerships project.

Mr Counihan said they had similar interests and goals and they examined the possibility of student exchange programmes that would have a cultural and sporting dimension and such a venture would create great opportunities for young people from both towns.
He said it is hoped that a process of cooperation could be advanced by the end of 2025.
Santeny, has a population of just over 4,000 people and it is located just 21km from the centre of Paris, France.
Killarney is already twinned with Casperia in Italy, Castiglione di Sicilia in Italy, Concord in the United States, Cooper City in the United States, Kendal in Wales, Myrtle Beach in the United States, Pleinfeld in Germany and Scottsdale in the United States.
