A BUSY and landmark Kerry restaurant, owned and run by a husband and wife team for over three decades, has been sold.

Nick’s Restaurant in Killorglin, a popular port of call for locals and visitors, has been purchased by Sean and Sinead Houlihan who have extensive business interests in the town, including a busy coach hire company.

Nick’s had been owned and run by Nick and Anne Foley for many years before the award-winning business was taken over by their son, John and his wife, Mary, in 2013.

Maintaining the name Nick’s Restaurant, it reopened for business under the new owners on Thursday and while John and Mary Foley John and Mary will exit the business, the rest of the Nick’s team will remain.

In a statement, the Foley family said: “We would like to send our greatest thanks to our customers with whom we have shared so many family occasions, our loyal and wonderful staff, our dedicated suppliers and food producers.

“This was not an easy decision to make and we are fortunate and grateful for the support of all over our restaurant’s lifetime”.
