AN interesting new player has entered the local radio market in Kerry with the aim of gaining more local listeners and boosting advertising revenue.
In what had been a closely guarded secret, SPIN South West today opened a new town centre studio in Tralee where it will capitalise on its popularity with a younger audience particularly its loyal target market of 15 to 34-year-olds.
The ambitious regional station is headquartered in Limerick and also broadcasts to Kerry, Clare, Tipperary and Laois.
“At SPIN South West, everything we do is different. We are cutting edge, innovative and vibrant,” a spokesperson for the station said, adding that it has a huge audience in Kerry.
The new premises on Castle Street, painted a very distinctive bright pink, will include studio facilities and an advertising sales office. The station was launched in July 2007 and specialises in pop music for the younger generation.
