Some familiar faces will adorn the television screens this Wednesday night as gifted chef Neven Maguire will be rustling up some very special festive season treats from Killarney.
He spent a few days in Muckross House and Traditional Farms filming a pre-Christmas special during which he will offer top tips on all the old favourites and a few surprises as well.
The most popular celebrity chef in Ireland, Neven owns and runs award-winning MacNean House and Restaurant in Blacklion, Co Cavan as well as an in-demand, purpose-built cooking school.

He has had several smash hit television cookery specials and he is also the author of a number of bestselling cookbooks. He is particularly popular for taking his cooking on the road and he has been known to get creative in the kitchens in several locations, both in Ireland and overseas.
Neven’s Christmas special is sure to be a winner in the ratings as he has a massive following and, as a real bonus, his Killarney programme will also take in many of the scenic local attractions and the national park which should make it a valuable marketing tool for Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
Muckross House and Traditional Farms staff that will join him include traditional farm hostesses Joan O’Connor and Mary Cahill.
The first of two programs from Killarney will be screened on RTE1 at 8.30pm this Wednesday and on the menu will be prawns in a kataifi pastry with sauce vierge, a Christmas dinner party recipe rack of lamb with a pistachio crust and a Black Forest trifle with poached cherries an chocolate custard.
