Musical day to remember for St Brigid’s girls

Music to their ears: St Brigid’s Secondary School students on the steps of the National Concert Hall

IT could well have been billed as music in the classroom – outside of the classroom – as students from a Killarney secondary school travelled together to the National Concert Hall in Dublin for an enriching educational concert on Tuesday.

Senior music students from St Brigid’s Secondary School attended an informative workshop and a wonderful live performance by the National Symphony Orchestra which focused on two of the works on their Leaving Certificate curriculum.

Education concerts for second level students are part of the orchestra’s Music in the Classroom programme.

The National Symphony Orchestra are delivering a total of 43 performances at the National Concert Hall which started last September and will continue until May.

Under the baton of chief conductor and Spanish native, Jaime Martín, the concerts range from large scale symphonic and choral works to movie screenings in concert, education concerts for primary and second-level students and popular contemporary concerts with major Irish and international artists and rising stars.
