Muckross and Rathmore benefit from community centre funds

Rathmore Social Action Group has been allocated €23,750

Muckross Community Centre in Killarney has been allocated close on €20,000 to fund the replacement of what have been described as defective doors and windows in the building.

The grants is part of an allocation of €359,266 to 19 community centres in Kerry for upgrade works under the Community Centres Investment Fund 2024.

Minister for Education and Kerry TD, Norma Foley, who announced the projects to benefit, said: “These grants will make a big difference. They will go towards supporting local groups to improve kitchen and toilet facilities, replace old windows and doors, upgrade heating systems and improving disability access”

Other Kerry projects to receive funding include:

·      Rathmore Social Action Group: €23,750 top fund the installation of solar panels, purchase anew sound system and upgrade lighting.

·      Tureencahill Community Group: €21,669 to fund an upgrade to toilet facilities.

·      Valentia Community Health and Welfare Association: €5,874 to fund renovations at Valentia Community Centre including the replacement of fire exit doors and upgrades to the kitchen.

·      Killorglin St. Vincent De Paul: €18,071 to fund toilet upgrades.

·      Foilmore Community Centre: €23,456 to fund the repurposing of the existing storage area into a multifunctional community space.

·      Cordal Community Resource Centre and Sports Hall: €15383 to fund the installation of solar panels to improve energy efficiency.
