Over three and a half thousand advisory letters have been issued by Kerry County Council over the past five years to landholders to cut roadside hedges on their properties.
The figures were provided to Cllr Marie Moloney at a meeting of Kerry County Council this Monday where she asked how many fines were issued for non-compliance.

Council officials said five enforcement officers were engaged in 2020 to implement enforcement and compliance issues among other duties.
They actively engage with landowners and positive relationships have formed.
Over the past five years 3,562 hedge cutting advisory letters were issued and 378 formal notices were sent out when hedges weren’t cut in the 14-day period allowed.
In the Killarney Municipal District, 77 notices were issued in 2020-21, 53 in 2021-22 and he same number in 2022-23 and 105 were sent out in 2023-24.
