
POPULAR priest Monsignor Pádraig Ó Fiannachta will be laid to rest in the grounds of Séipéal Chaitlíona in Ventry following con-celebrated Requiem Mass next Tuesday.
The former parish priest in Dingle, who was a much-loved scholar, author, poet, publisher and community activist, passed away at West Kerry Community Hospital on Friday, in his 90th year.
He is survived by his brother Maurice (Dalkey), nieces, nephews, family, friends and the bishop and priests of the Diocese of Kerry.
The monsignor was predeceased by his siblings Eileen, May, Eugene, Jimmy, John and Michéal.
His remains will be reposing at O’Connor’s Funeral Home, Dingle from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on Monday with removal afterwards to St Mary’s Church, Dingle.
The funeral Mass will be at 11.00am on Tuesday with burial immediately afterwards. The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be made to benefit patient comfort in West Kerry Community Hospital.
