Kerry County Council has awarded 28 arts act grants, to the value of €35,000, and 25 artist bursaries worth €22,000, having received a total of 124 applications for funding from individuals, festivals, events, projects and venues in Kerry.
The artist bursaries are broken down into a number of categories, including creative work development, further arts education, artist retreat, artist in schools and the Eamon Kelly Bursary for artists living in Killarney Municipal District.
The independent adjudication panel were very impressed with the standard of the applications and recipients include Ballybunion Arts Festival, Tralee Art Group, Spraoi Chiarraí, K-Fest, Dingle Lit and the Spike Players.
Bursaries were also awarded for artists specialising in literature, sculpture, dance, visual art, theatre, music and film.
The schools which were awarded funding are St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School, Killarney Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail and Clogher National School.
