GARDAI in Killarney have said they are relying on the support of the public to help bring the killer of local grandmother Miriam Burns to justice.
They have appealed to anybody that may have seen or heard anything suspicious or unusual in Ardshanavooley estate, between 7.00pm last Friday evening and lunchtime last Monday, to get in touch.
They are particularly anxious to hear from any taxi drivers, delivery people or others who may have been in the area during that time that may have dash-cam footage in the vehicles.
Those with CCTV systems in their homes have also been urged to get in touch with Killarney Garda Station.

Superintendent Flor Murphy, who is heading the investigation, described the attack on the 75-year-old mother of four adult children as ”terrible and horrible” and he said gardai are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.
“She did not deserve to die like that,” he said.
He asked people who are living in Ardshanavooley or may have been visiting the area to reflect on what they were doing last weekend to try to recall if they had observed anything unusual.
“There is only one vehicular access to the estate and we are asking people to recall if they saw any unusual movement of people in vehicles, on bicycles or on foot,” Supt Murphy said.
“Miriam Burns was a lovely lady who was brutally murdered in her own home – we must bring the culprit to justice,” he added.
Neighbours who had a key to her home made the grim discovery of her body when they entered the house after being contacted by a relative on Monday. Emergency services were alerted and Ms Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.
A full-scale murder hunt, involving over 40 gardai, including forensics experts, was launched following the receipt of post-moterm examination results on Tuesday. Door-to-door enquires have been conducted and CCTV footage from neighbouring businesses has been examined.
A funeral service for Ms Burns will take place in St Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney this Sunday at 4.00pm followed by a private cremation.
