THE former league and cup double winners in Kerry soccer now have a state-of-the-art training facility to match their success on the pitch.
Killarney Athletic AFC will unveil a super new all-weather astro pitch which has been developed for the benefit of members and players at all grades.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place next Monday night, at 7.00pm, with Minister of State for Sport, Brendan Griffin, and FAI Chief Executive, John Delaney, officiating at the club base in Woodlawn.
Last November Minister Griffin approved a grant of €41,000 for Athletic to develop the astro-turf all-weather pitch and fencing.
Club officials and coaches will be attendance and young club members, aged from six to 10, will turn out in their gear to display their skills under the supervision of Athletic’s UEFA A licensed coach JP Mullins.
Athletic won the Premier League title in Kerry soccer for the first time in their history in the 2016/17 season and they followed that up with a thrilling KO Cup victory over local rivals Killarney Celtic to complete a memorable double. But Celtic returned the compliment this season when they outsmarted their town rivals with a double success of their own.
