THE minions have achieved world domination.

Hundreds of small, cylindrical creatures, many with just one eye, descended on Killarney this Sunday and set a new world record in the process.

A strange kind of yellow fever took the INEC by storm in a colourful and ultimately successful attempt to create a new world best for the number of minions gathered in one place at one time.

Minions of all shapes and sizes came forth as observers from the Guinness Book of Records monitored proceedings.

And at the end of it all a new world record was set with an official headcount of 325 minions – 70 more than the previous best.

Cheerleaders, dancers, live music and fun and games ensured a real party atmosphere and there were whoops of delight when the new world record was announced during the Kerry v Kildare All-Ireland qualifier.

The novel event was organised to raise funds for the development of a state-of-the-art running track facility in the grounds of St Brendan’s College and minions were asked to pay €5 to be part of the record with a family rate of €20.
