THE priests of the Killarney parish have acknowledged that the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in tough and worrying times for many people but they are delighted so many are able to join them for Mass via the parish radio or webcam on www.killarneyparish.com.
They said, however, that they are aware than many are upset that they can’t attend Mass in person or visit the Church to pray and, with the doors closed out of necessity, parishioners are also unable to light candles for their own needs and intentions.
In a statement to KillarneyToday.com, the local clergy have stressed that people are more than welcome to use text or email to send them personal prayers and petitions, for themselves, for their loved ones and for those they wish to pray for.

The submissions received will be printed and placed in a basket at the altar in St Mary’s Cathedral and the intentions will be included in all prayers and services. Just text the intentions to 087-3753400 or email them to killarney@dioceseofkerry.ie.
The people are welcome to include their first name on the messages but they will be treated with strict confidence and will not be read aloud at Mass.
Parish Administrator Fr Kieran O’Brien, Fr Jim Lenihan and Fr Niall Howard said the people of Killarney and its surrounds can be assured that they are praying for them and their intentions at this challenging time.
“You might be on your own but remember that you are never alone – we are with you in prayer and the Lord is with us all,” they said in the statement.
Details of the Holy Week ceremonies in St Mary’s Cathedral will be published on KillarneyToday.com early next week.
Meanwhile, in the parish of Fossa, PP Fr Tomás Ó Luanaigh has advised parishioners that the weekly parish newsletter and the Holy Week Mass booklets are available to collect at Foley’s Spar which is a short distance from the Prince of Peace Church.
Parishioners have been encouraged to cut a piece of palm or whatever evergreen tree is in their gardens and Fr Tomás will conduct the Blessing of Palms service in the presbytery oratory at 7.30pm on Sunday.
