Dr Crokes footballer Micheál Burns has left the Kerry panel, it has been confirmed.
The strong-running wing forward, who has been part of the senior set-up for six years, has confirmed his intentions to team management.
The Irish Examiner has reported that Jack O’Connor confirmed the news this Monday evening and said Burns has left the squad of his own volition.
The no nonsense, tough-tackling wing forward made the first 15 for this season’s opening national league campaign encounter against Derry in Tralee but, for the game against Monaghan, he was back on the bench which has become a familiar place for him in recent season.
An All-Ireland minor medal winner in 2014, Burns (28) was part of the Kerry All-Ireland winning squad in 2022 and he has five Munster Championship medals in his collection.
A mainstay on the Dr Crokes senior side for several years, Burks has won three Kerry senior football championship titles and two provincial crowns with the black and amber.
