Michael is right in step for a great cause

Michael O’Mahony hit the road to do his bit for the very important cause

A POPULAR Kerry GAA personality hit the road with a purpose in aid of a great cause and he has raised a very impressive sim of money through his endeavours.

Michael O’Mahony set out to walk the streets and byroads in his home town of Rathmore to generate support for the lifesaving Irish Community Air Ambulance service which needs funds to stay in operation.

Michael, originally from Annascaul but living in Rathmore for several years, initially set himself a target of 60 miles but he was so determined to support his chosen organisation he more than doubled that and ended up completing an impressive 136.7 2miles.

And in the processed he raised a cool €3,120 for the charity.

Michael, a great community activist who is also PRO for Rathmore Community Council, took to the roads every day and he was thrilled to receive numerous donations from residents, neighbours and friends.

“I was delighted with the response and I wish to thank everybody for their generosity,” he said

The Irish Community Air Ambulance provides a safe, effective and timely emergency medical care to those who are seriously ill or injured through the provision of a charity funded helicopter service staffed by advanced paramedics.

Based in Rathcoole, Co Cork and working in tandem with the National Ambulance Service, it provides both paramedic support and transport to hospital.
