A Killarney man, who is a director of an interiors, architecture and technology company, has receiveda gold award for outstanding service and commitment at an awards ceremony in London.
Michael O’Keeffe, of healycornelius design ltd, was recognised at the AT Awards for his exceptional contribution to architectural technology practices at an event that shines a spotlight on the talent and dedication of architectural practices and individual professionals worldwide, from emerging students to industry icons.
There have been 87 gold awards bestowed to Chartered Architectural Technologists, since 1999, including seven from the Republic of Ireland, and Michael was announced as the 88th recipient and is one of the youngest to receive the award.
At a young age, he stepped into the role as the organisation’s Republic of Ireland education officer and visited almost every architectural technology degree programme in the country, promoting membership and encouraging other universities to apply for accreditation.
“Michael leads by example and has taken on many other significant roles in the Republic of Ireland. He has been a pioneer for statutory recognition of the architectural technologists’ register and sits on the ATR working group, meeting with ministers of state and representatives from government departments,” the awards citation reads.
“His enthusiasm for the profession and the Institute has no end. He is constantly engaging with members and offering support. Michael is always keen to encourage young members, is wise beyond his years and has a wealth of knowledge within the industry”.
Locally, Michael is director of the successful CIAT Chartered Architectural Practice, healycornelius design in Deerpark, providing architectural design, planning and construction phase services.
