TWO young men who got into difficulty while climbing Carrauntoohil yesterday afternoon were rescued and brought to safety by the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team.
The victims left Cronin’s yard early on Friday morning and ascended the Devil’s Ladder but they experienced problems before they reached the summit.
The climbers called for help at 2.00pm and they were assisted by other walkers before the 18-strong rescue team reached them two hours later.
The men, described as uninjured but exhausted and cold, were given warm clothing, food and drinks before they were secured with a rope and assisted down the mountain.
Weather conditions at the time were cold with light wind and rain. The rescue volunteers returned to base at 7.30pm.
