Memory Tree now sparkling for a decade

Christmas Ornament

This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the first lighting of a special memory tree in the grounds of a Killarney national school to remember loved ones during the Christmas season.

The lights on the feature tree in the grounds of the Holy Cross Mercy school will be switched on at an in-person ceremony on Monday, December 5 at 7.00pm.

Prayers will be led by Fr Seán Jones and there will be festive carols by candlelight at the ceremony attended by pupils and staff.

All are welcome to join the occasion in person or online via the Killarney parish webcam on www.killarneyparish.com

Lights for the tree – to commemorate loved ones – are available to buy online from the school website, www.mercyholycross.com, or from the school office on New Road.

Mass will be offered for all those commemorated in St Mary’s Cathedral at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 16 and the lights on the memory tree will be lit each evening during the festive season until January 6, which is the Feast of the Epiphany.
