The story of a missing dog – highlighted by KillarneyToday.com on Saturday morning – came to an astonishing but happy ending in the early hours of this Sunday when the runaway canine was found with the help of an insightful medium in Scotland.

Denis O’Shea from Ballycasheen in Killarney had dropped his beloved six-year-old collie cross, Patch, to be looked after in Scartaglin while he was setting off to enjoy a short break in the sun with his pal Andrew Joy.

But they had no sooner reached Kerry Airport when his phone rang with the bombshell news that the dog had suddenly bolted and gone AWOL.

None the worse for her ordeal,Patch is safe and sound back at home

Denis and Andrew immediately abandoned their travel plans and spent the day unsuccessfully searching for Patch, receiving great support from the community in Scartaglin and several others who had joined in the search.

Word of Patch’s disappearance went viral after KillarneyToday.com was asked to spread the news and the question on everyone’s lips as Saturday progressed was ‘Where is Patch?’

Medium: Mel Alie who owns IndigoBlue Intuitive

Denis’s sister, Kathy, shared news of the plight on Facebook and, late on Saturday night, she was contacted by an acquaintance in Aberdeen, Scotland, an intuitive medium named Mel Anie who has uncanny psychic abilities.

In a voice message, sent to Kathy – which has been copied to KillarneyToday.com – Mel said she had a vision of a dog running downhill, with water running alongside and there was a circular collection of stones at a ruins in a field.

She said she had visions of a dog, who appeared confused and disorientated, hiding there for protection and there was a church, or the ruins of a church, to the left by a river.

The information immediately sparked a renewed after dark search and, having shared the information received with locals, Denis and Andrew were led to a fairy fort in Scartaglin that was, indeed, close to a church and a river.

Initially there was no sign of Patch but when her favourite squeaky toy was produced, she soon emerged from behind the fairy fort stones where she had apparently been taking shelter.

After a day long ordeal – for both of them – Patch and Denis were finally reunited at 2 o’clock this Sunday morning and although the friendly collie was a little traumatised, she was soon back in her own bed and none the worse for the experience.

Denis’s sister, Kathy, told KillarneyToday.com that she was astonished by the developments as they happened and by the remarkable insight offered by her medium friend on Facebook.

Mel, who owns IndigoBlue Intuitive Medium and regularly works with the police in Scotland, has had that gift since she was a small child.

“She gave us an indication of where Patch could be and said she was 100 per cent certain we would find her,” Kathy said.

Delighted to be reunited with his beloved Patch, Denis O’Shea thanked everybody from the caring Scartaglin community that helped in the search with a particular word of thanks reserved for Dinny who travelled the road throughout the day and night in search of Patch. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to medium Mel who guided everybody in the right direction.

Denis said he is also very grateful to all those who shared the post on Facebook and he said it was a very happy ending that shows just how much the determination of a close-knit community can achieve.
