Fr Tom Looney, the Killarney-based retired former Dingle PP

The first episode, to be screened this coming Sunday at 8.45pm, will feature Dingle record shop owner Mazz O’Flaherty going in search of the history of the O’Flaherty surname.

Her story takes her to Galway and onto the Aran Islands as she is interested in the fact that Oscar Wilde has Flaherty as part of his surname

Mazz meets historian Adrian Martyn, from Athenry, who shows her an O’Flaherty Crannóg in Caherlistrane in Co Galway followed by Aughnanure Castle in Oughterard which the O’Flaherty’s resided in at the peak of their power.

The episode also features conversations with Fr Tom Looney, the Killarney-based retired former Dingle Parish Priest, and Juilí Ní Mhaoileoin, the Dingle Druid, who looks after the graveyard records, among many other things, in the town.
