And the mayor said let there be light

The pole and power line damaged in the storm

AFTER two days without electricity, full power was restored to all residents in the Pinewood Estate area of Killarney this Wednesday evening thanks to the dedicated effort of an ESB Networks crew.

Storm Ophelia caused havoc in the estate on Monday when it partially felled an electricity pole in a vacant site, putting power lines out of commission and plunging a number of houses into darkness.

Standing tall: Pinewood’s replacement pole

Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, was contacted by frustrated residents and he made representations to ESB Networks personnel who worked tirelessly today to erect a new pole and restore power in full.

“I thank them most sincerely for their great work at a time when they are under enormous pressure with so many problems to be sorted. They have done a great job in very difficult circumstances,” Mayor Kelleher said.
