Independents Maura Healy-Rae and Marin Grady have both been declared elected in Killarney having exceeded the quota on the first count.
Healy-Rae surged to victory in stunning fashion with 3,385 first preferences with Grady exceeding the quota of 1,785 with a showing of 2,053.
Healy-Rae’s massive surplus of 1,600 is now being distributed at the Killarney Sports ad Leisure Centre.

In third position was Kerry Independent Alliance councillor John O’Donoghue (1,574) followed by Independent Brendan Cronin (1,423) and Fianna Fail’s Niall Kelleher (1,307).
They are all certain of election while Independent Niall O’Callaghan and Labour’s Marie Moloney are also expected to get through.
Leading the chasing pack is Fine Gael’s Dermot Healy on 653 votes.
