He’s well known for exhibiting his considerable prowess on the greens and fairways at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club – where he is a long-time member – but Mark Tuite has just achieved his greatest ever sporting achievement in a different code by winning a bronze medal at the 2022 World IBSF Seniors Amateur Snooker Championships.
Mark was in top form on the green baize in Antalya, Turkey and the 2014 European Seniors champion reached the semi-final stage to win Ireland a bronze medal.
The gifted cue master won his group and was seeded seventh in the knockout stages but he followed that with impressive victories over tricky opponents from Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
In the semi-final he faced the Indian champion Manan Chandra in a best of nine match and actually led 3-2 but his opponent fought back to win 5-3.
In 2014 Mark was crowned European Masters snooker champion after he defeated Belgium’s Alain Vandersteen in a thrilling final frame decider in Bulgaria.
