The husband, son and daughter of a popular Killarney woman who passed away in October 2020, after fighting cancer, are to partake in this year’s Dublin City Marathon to raise funds in her memory.
The beneficiary of their endeavours will be Comfort for Chemo Kerry which is a voluntary charity set up to raise funds to build and equip a state-of-the-art €5 million chemotherapy facility on the grounds of University Hospital Kerry.
Patrick, Erik and Alannah Eviston, the family that owns the Eviston House Hotel in Killarney, have set a target of €5,000 from their 42km run in the capital on October 30 and they have set up a GoFundMe page to accept donations.

Patrick’s wife and Erik and Alannah’s mum, Linda (née Lucey), passed away on 10 October 2020.
Her husband and now adult children said the new Comfort for Chemo base is badly needed as the current unit, despite everyone’s best efforts, needs to be replaced.
“People with cancer are suffering enough so we want to help them get the best treatment possible. All donations greatly appreciated,” the Evistons said.
Meanwhile, the community in the parish of Glenflesk – where Linda was born and raised in Curraglass – are holding a table quiz in her memory in Spillane’s Bar on Thursday, October 27 – the same weekend as the marathon – with proceeds also going to Comfort for Chemo.
Tables of four are invited with an entry fee of €40 per table but donations would also be welcome.
The quizmaster on the night will be John (Twin) O’Donoghue and the first of the general knowledge questions is scheduled to be put those in attendance at 8.00pm.
