A PUBLIC meeting to discuss serious transport issues facing people in Kerry has been scheduled for Killarney.
It is being organised by Fianna Fáil general election candidate Cllr Norma Moriarty and the keynote speaker will be the party’s transport, tourism and sport spokesman, Marc McSharry.
The meeting will be held on Scott’s Hotel on Monday, December 2 at 8.00pm.

Cllr Moriarty has hit out at what she termed “a number of controversial decisions’” taken by transport service providers without due regard to their impact on the ground in Kerry.
“The service area in the bus station in Killarney was closed for a number of days, before it was forced to reopen this month, albeit still unmanned, such was the demand,” she said.
“A lot of concern has been expressed about the merging of Kerry with Cork in terms of organisational and administrative operations. Many people feel as if Kerry has become the poor relation and is not getting the same service as before”.
Cllr Moriarty, a second time general election candidate who will be Deputy John Brassil’s running mate, said given the high visitor numbers to Kerry, the current transport options fall far short of what is needed.
“I believe we need to see the current bus fleet upgraded, as well as creating more capacity at peak times of the year, I am hoping that this meeting will give people the opportunity to have their say on the transport problems that they face so that we can begin looking at ways to address these issues,” she said.
