Man’s death: no foul play

garda badge pgTHE man who was found dead in Tralee in the early hours of Friday morning was well-known in Killarney.

The remains of 35-year-old Eric Leahy were discovered by a passer-by in the Pembroke Court area, off Pembroke Street, shortly after 3.00am.

Emergency services were summoned but frantic efforts to resuscitate Mr Leahy were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí investigating the matter say they are treating it as a sudden death and foul play is not suspected.

A post-mortem examination and toxicology tests will be carried out at Kerry General Hospital.

Mr Leahy, who was very well known in his native Tralee, had taken up athletics in recent months and completed the Tralee Half Marathon last month.

He will be laid to rest in Rath Cemetery on Monday following 10.00am Requiem Mass St John’s Church, Tralee.
