A man leaving a nightclub in Killarney in the early hours of Sunday morning was set upon and violently assaulted by a group of several males who left him bloodied and bruised and requiring medical treatment.
The incident occurred on Main Street between 2.00am and 3.00m and the culprits were not known to the victim who was a visitor to Killarney.
The man was left with injuries that will require dental work as one of his teeth was broken and he also suffered multiple bruising.
Investigating gardai say the street was very busy at the time with people leaving late night venues and waiting to get taxis home or back to their accommodation.
The Kerry v Mayo match at Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday afternoon significantly increased the crowd socialising in the town on Saturday night.
Gardai have appealed to any people that may have witnessed the attack or anybody that might have captured the incident on their smartphones to get in touch.
Killarney Garda Station can be contacted on 064-6631222.
