A man has been taken to University Hospital Kerry this morning following an incident involving a refuse truck in the town centre.The alarm was raised shortly after 7/00am by a workman who was collecting wheelie bins for emptying during an early morning round.
It is understood – but it still awaiting formal confirmation – that a male may have been in one of the wheelie bins at the time of disposal collection.
Fire service personnel and an ambulance were immediately summoned to the scene and Gardai closed off New Street for a period of time while the matter was being dealt with.
It is believed the man suffered injuries but they are not understood to be life threatening.
