
A man has been charged with the murder of a pensioner who was found dead at her home in Killarney on August 15th 2022.
Billy Burns (52) appeared at the district court in Killarney this afternoon to face a charge of murdering Miriam Burns, at Ardshanavooley, Killarney, between August 12th and August 15th last year, contrary to common law.
He was remanded in custody to appear, via video link, at a sitting of Tralee District Court this Wednesday, March 8.

Ms Burns, who was 75, was a mother of four and a grandmother. She was found dead at her home at Ardshanavooly in Killarney and a post-mortem examination concluded that she died violently.
Billy Burns, of no fixed abode, was arrested before 12.30pm in Tralee and brought before Judge David Waters for a very brief hearing just after 3.00pm this Tuesday
Solicitor Padraig O’Connell applied for free legal aid as his client was on disability allowance. The application was granted.
The solicitor also asked that his client receive all appropriate medical care, including psychiatric treatment, while on remand.
