Making the journey through Holy Week with one another

Holy Week is the most important celebration in the Church year

PRIESTS in the parish of Killarney have confirmed the full schedule of services for Easter and, although the churches will remain closed due to Covid-19, the public can join in on the internet and via parish radio.

Holy Week is the most important celebration in the Church year with ceremonies including the blessing of palm on Palm Sunday, washing of the feet on Holy Thursday and the kissing the Cross through to walking the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday and holding candles of light and hope at the Easter Vigil.

“We can’t do those side by side in Church this year but we can journey through Holy Week with one another through the Masses and the ceremonies via the parish radio and the webcam,” said Fr Niall Howard.

Masses will continue to be celebrated at 10.30am and 6.15pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and because individual confessions are not possible at this time there will be an Examination of Conscience and prayers of penance as part of the 6.15pm Mass on Wednesday.
