A special message from Temple Street Children’s Hospital, where she works as a paediatric radiographer, added a lovely touch to Emer Dineen’s big night in front of the live television cameras.
The 2024 Kerry Rose had completed a wonderful routine with co-host Daithí Ó Sé before RTÉ Gold DJ Will Leahy read out a message on X that had been tweeted by the hospital wishing Emer and all the contestants well.

The 23-year-old from Stradbally, Castlegregory, has told Daithí – and the audience watching from many parts of the world – that she loves her job.
“I just adore, adore, adore what I do. I love it so much,” she said.
“It’s so fulfilling and uplifting and so unbelievably special. The kids are unbelievable. They just make you so happy and they give so much back to you and they have so much fun.

“They believe in magic and fairy dust and it’s just really unbelievable,” Emer said.
The elegant Kerry Rose was one of the stars of the show on opening night and – even though he had complained earlier of injuring his knee – she even persuaded Daithí to join in her cheerleading routine to the music of her favourite performer Taylor Swift.
Emer’s interview ended with a fabulous demonstration of Lámh – the sign system used by children and adults with intellectual disability and communication – to the lyrics of Ed Sheehan’s hit Perfect.
