Louise making a slow but steady recovery

Louise: making a steady recovery in Spain

A YOUNG Killarney woman, who has been fighting for her life after a horrific road crash in Spain, is making a good recovery and she has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a step-down ward in Infanta Christina Hospital in south west Spain

21-year-old Louise Lynch, from Radrinagh, Spa, sustained massive injuries when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision in Badajoz on February 24 last.

She suffered serious cranial and abdominal injuries and several fractured bones in the crash in which one person died and three others were injured. Louise, who had been teaching in Spain for the past year, was with two pals returning from a day trip when the accident happened.

Her family has been maintaining a vigil at her bedside but they were at home in Spa for the past week where prayers were offered for Louise’s full recovery at an annual Mass celebrated in the local GAA clubhouse.

A club spokesperson said: “Louise is making good recovery and is out of ICU. She has a long road ahead of her with a lengthy rehabilitation programme. On the positive side, she’s off the ventilator”.

The club added: “With time, patience and hard work, hopefully, her many bones can be mended. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family”.

Before opting to work in Spain, the popular young Killarney woman graduated with a degree in Business and Spanish from UCC and she is a former pupil of Tiernaboul National School and St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School in Killarney.

Louise is the cherished eldest child of Seamus and Nora Lynch and a sister to Marie, a UCC nursing student, and James who is preparing to sit his Leaving Cert in St Brendan’s College.

Friends have helped the Lynch family to set up a fundraising account to offset some of the enormous medical and travel expenses being incurred by the family. The online GoFundMe account can be found here https://www.gofundme.com/Louise-Lynch and any online donation, however small, would be greatly appreciated.
