With Killarney co-driver Noel O’Sullivan on the notes, Derry’s Callum Devine made it three Rally of the Lakes titles in a row at the weekend in their VW Polo GTi R5

They managed to hold off a very strong challenge from runner-up Welsh driver Matt Edwards and co-driver David Moynihan Ford Fiesta Rally2 to win by 7.9 seconds. Eddie Doherty and Tom Murphy in a Skoda Fabia R5 were third while Irish Tarmac Championship leader Keith Cronin and Killarney co-driver Mikie Galvin were next up in a Ford Fiesta Rally2 having led earlier but they lost two minutes with a puncture.

Killarney’s Colin O’Donoghue and co-driver Kieran O’Donoghue won the Modified section in their Ford Escort and they also brought home the John Mullane memorial cup for being the best Kerry crew and the trophy to honour the late great Rally of the Lakes PRO Johnny Hickey which is presented to the best placed Kerry driver.
Alan Ring, also Killarney based, and Adrian Deasy won the Historic category in a BMW M3 and they were presented with the Maurice O’Donoghue memorial cup.
