Nearly €1 million is to be shared between three Kerry projects under the Government’s Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors scheme.

€500,000 is to be spent on the provision of changing facilities on the North Kerry Greenway in Listowel, a further €200,000 has been allocated to upgrading works on the Shannon Way and €199,800 has been approved for an upgrade of the Castlegregory Beach amenity area.

The allocations, approved by Minister for Community and Rural Development, Heather Humphreys, have been welcomed by Kerry TD Brendan Griffin.

Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors was developed in partnership with Comhairle na Tuaithe and is a collaborative cross-government strategy that reflects the views of stakeholders and the public.

The new strategy will set the stage to strengthen and support the sustainable development of the outdoor recreation sector in Ireland for years to come bringing huge economic and health benefits to communities across the country.
