One of the most important and admirable events every festive season, this year’s Killarney Lions Club Food Appeal street collection is taking place on this coming Friday, December 16, at various locations in the town.
Donations received on the day will be used to provide food hampers for families in need in the Killarney area.
Transition year students from Killarney’s three secondary schools have already supported the appeal by raising money through activities such as a bake sale, a no uniform day and Christmas markets.

They are also helping to prepare the hampers along with Lions Club volunteers.
“Our food appeal has been running for many years and is always very generously supported by the people of Killarney,” said Killarney Lions Club Denis Doolan.
“The transition year students have also been amazing and we are very grateful for that support which will be more important than ever given the cost of living crisis facing many families this year,” he said,
The Killarney Lions Club, through its members, assists various groups and individuals in and around the community through voluntary activities, fundraising and by holding various types of events in support of a great many local causes.
