The World Day of Remembrance for road traffic accident victims will take place on Sunday, November 17 and the event will bring together families and individuals who have lost loved ones or suffered serious injuries in road traffic collisions.
Tragically, 149 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year, though this is 16 fewer road deaths by the same date in 2023.

Kerry County Council is inviting people to light a candle or shine a light in their window to mark this important day of remembrance for road traffic victims.
Kerry’s Road Safety Officer, Declan Keogh, said it is an important day of reflection for the families, friends and colleagues of those who have died or were injured in traffic collisions.
“It is also an important day for everyone else in the community and we’d like to invite people to light a candle or shine a light in their front window or porch on the evening of World Day of Remembrance,” he said.
