FOSSA GAA Club – where man-of-the-moment David Clifford learned the skills of the game – is to provide a complimentary bus shuttle service for supporters anxious to join in tomorrow evening’s homecoming celebrations.
The all-conquering players, management and officials will initially arrive at Fitzgerald Stadium at approximately 5.30pm but they will then travel they will travel by coach to Fossa GAA Club Grounds in Gortroe where they are expected to arrive for a homecoming party at approximately 7.00pm.
Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, whose is related to Kerry full back Chris O’Donoghue of Glenflesk, has submitted a request to Kerry County Council to arrange a formal civic reception for the champions to coincide with the homecoming celebrations.
In an effort to alleviate the expected large volume of traffic, Fossa GAA will provide a free bus service for supporters travelling from both the Killarney and Killorglin sides of the ground.
Buses will run from 6.00pm from the Áras Padraig car park and the High Street car park at the top of the town to Fossa and, on the western side, a bus service will run from Fossa School and Fossa Church, with a pick-up at the Golden Nugget bar and restaurant, to ferry supporters to Gortroe. These will run on a continuous loop and a return service will be provided in a similar fashion after the event.
Fans are encouraged to utilise the bus services and use neighbouring designated car parking areas as parking in the immediate vicinity of the GAA grounds will be very limited. Supports are asked to arrive early to enjoy the festivities and to follow the instructions of An Garda Síochána, and stewards.
“Please come out and support these fantastic players and their management team and give them the biggest of welcomes which they richly deserve,” said a spokesperson for Fossa GAA.
