With the Kerry Senior Football Championship now at the semi-finals stage, the picture becomes clearer as to when Killarney Legion’s eagerly-awaited Intermediate Club Championship semi-final clash with An Ghaeltacht can be played.
If East Kerry reach the county final by beating Dingle next weekend, Legion’s last four date with the West Kerry outfit will be played on the weekend of November 5/6.
If East Kerry fail to reach the final, however, Legion will be in action on the October bank holiday weekend.
There are no less than seven Legion players on the East Kerry panel with Brian Kelly, Cian Gammell, Jonathan Lyne, Darragh Lyne, James O’Donoghue, Padraig Lucey and Ryan O’Grady all involved.
They will face Tom O’Sullivan, Paul Geaney and co at Austin Stack Park on Sunday next at 2.30pm.
In their bid to triumph at Intermediate level and get back to the top flight, Legion’s panel have been busy preparing themselves by playing challenge games with some lining out in the East Kerry Junior Championship for the O’Sullivan Cup. The semi-final of that competition has been fixed for Sunday next away to Fossa with a 11.30am throw-in.
Any player who didn’t start a game in this year’s Intermediate Championship is eligible to play and participating teams can also nominate five who have started to line-out.
