Lee’s fabulous gift to the people of Ukraine

A gifted Kerry artist has offered a special piece of work as a gift donation to the Ukrainian Embassy in Dublin as a gesture of solidarity with the people from the war-ravaged country.

Lee Tiller said he felt compelled to create a new piece of art but rather than conveying anguish and pain e wanted it to express the resolute determination and hope for the people.

He said his painting, titled Resolute and the Vanquished, like all art, is profoundly subjective and personal.

“Suffice to say that I believe the viewer will read from their personal perspective and consequently draw their own interpretation,” he remarked.

Lee said: “As an artist I did what I could only do; express myself through the medium of paint.”

He added: “Watching from the peace and quiet of Ireland’s shores, I could feel a seething, visceral rage. Yet this furnace of anger that burned within me was surrounded by a smothering sense of impotence too.

“Like most decent humans, I felt powerless. Every day, we would watch in collective horror   as innocent victims were maimed and killed, homes destroyed and history obliterated stone by stone.

“It was a pernicious assault on peace and democracy, and an affront to all of humanity,” he said.

Lee has asked other artists would be interested in co-hosting a curated art exhibition for Ukraine to contact him g at lee.tiller@gmail.com.
