THE Division 1B Shield decider between Scott’s Lakers of Killarney and Paris Texas, Kilkenny, which had been expected to attract a capacity attendance to the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre this Sunday afternoon, has been postponed due to the severe weather.
The game is now expected to go ahead, at the same venue, next weekend, quite probably on Saturday night.
Lakers would love nothing more than to mark their return to national league basketball with a shield win which would be a significant achievement on their first year back.
The team has been afforded great support from basketball fans in the greater Killarney area with the complex full to capacity for many of the bigger games.
And Cormac O’Donoghue’s troops haven’t let them down with some super performances and, in the process, they have claimed a number of notable scalps.
They have won exactly half of the 18 games played to date and they stand on 27 points, three ahead of Kilkenny who have a game in hand.
