SCOTT’S Lakers national league basketball Division 1 home game against LYIT Donegal, scheduled for Killarney Sports Centre this Saturday night, will not now go ahead.
The Letterkenny side has withdrawn from fulfilling the fixture and have informed Lakers and Basketball Ireland that they are unable to travel to Killarney.
Basketball Ireland will decide if the match will be rescheduled or if the points will be awarded to Scott’s Lakers.
Following their recent comprehensive 109-74 win over Ulster Elks, Lakers had been looking forward to another opportunity to strengthen their position on the league table and be in with a chance to challenge for honours at the end of the season.
Cormac O’Donoghue’s charges are currently in second place in the southern conference with a 15-3 record, closely behind newly crowned cup champions Ballincollig, who remain on top with a 16-2 record.
LYIT Donegal have struggled this season with just three wins from 16 outings and are second from bottom of the northern conference table. The Northerners played the Killarney side twice last season winning 76-75 at home before suffering a heavy defeat, 107-84, in Killarney last February.
