Despite fierce competition from over 35 teams, it was an all-ladies foursome that triumphed in the annual St Paul’s Basketball Club Golf Classic in Beaufort.

The Gallivan Murphy Insurance (GMIB) team of Tina O’Sullivan, Sinead O’Shea, Sinead Lynch and Lelia Moloney displayed great course management and no little skill to find themselves in the winners’ enclosure.

But they had to be at their very best as another all-female combination chased them home all the way home as Aileen Curtayne and her team played wonderfully well and secured the silver medal.

The event was held in memory of club stalwart Connie Brosnan and it was organised by a committee including Sean Brosnan, Joe Sheehan, Maurice O’Donoghue, Jim Delaney, John Carroll and Tom Looney.
