Killarney Valley AC invests in state-of-the-art equipment

The All-Ireland under 19 4x400m mixed relay champions from Killarney Valley AC, Hannah Ryan, Mollie O’Riordan, Oisin O’Regan and Cian O’Brien with coach Tomas Griffin

Killarney Valley AC has sourced expert top-class electronic timing equipment to support the ambitions of athletes involved with the club.

With performance the key word, the committee has spent wisely thanks to grant aid support from the Department of Sports, Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

“Performance and standards must be measured in the world of track and field athletics if you want to progress and have a chance of making it to the top, or even somewhere along the way,” said club official Jerry Griffin.

“With the coaching team at Killarney Valley AC providing great expertise and guidance, the athletes have that chance”.

Killarney Valley already boasts several national and international athletes and it expects to see in person some world class athletes at the arena for events and workshops in the future.

The club is currently installing new pole vault equipment with GB record holder and British international Alan Butler, who now resides in Kerry, joining the coaching team of Tomas Griffin, Con Lynch, Alan Delaney, Tim Horgan and others.

The club has also initiated a track repair fundraising campaign.

Killarney Valley AC now has 16 nationalities in the club, including many Ukrainian members who are Irish national champions already.

The club also has young athlete who is the son of multi silver medalist and runner-up, the great Sergei Bubka.
