Killarney has been confirmed as the capital town for this year’s Kingdom Pride 2023 Festival.
Taking place countywide over a full week, from July 10-16, the event will be celebrating the LGBTQI+ community of Kerry and their allies with broad range of family-friendly events taking place during the day in Killarney on Saturday, July 15.
The programme will include a nature walk in Killarney National Park which will incorporate the festival’s flagship event, Pride in the Park, at Killarney House and Gardens.
Kingdom Pride organisers say they are delighted to be teaming up with such a beautiful venue with important ties to Kerry’s history and heritage and the leave-no-trace event will be a great day of family fun.
Night time drag events will also be taking place in Killarney to round off the celebrations.

The decision to rotate the capitals is to emphasise Kingdom Pride’s ethos that pride is important everywhere and not just in big urban centres.
“While the main focus of the public and the media’s attention has been on the important Pride celebrations in Ireland’s main cities throughout June, it is often forgotten that LGBTQI+ communities exist throughout Ireland, from big cities to small rural communities.
“With this in mind, Kingdom Pride rotates this annual event to highlight and celebrate those LGBTQI+ individuals that make up the fabric of Ireland’s regional towns and villages,” said a spokesperson for the festival.
Kingdom Pride will also be celebrating on St Patrick’s Day in Killarney this year and they have invited anyone that wants to march with them in the parade on March 17 to reach out on social media.
