Killarney students enjoy the cultural life in Madrid

MAGNIFICENT Madrid and its many cultural and visual attractions is on the menu this weekend for transition year and fifth year Spanish students from St Brigid’s Secondary School in Killarney.

They are currently enjoying themselves on a cultural and linguistic tour of the Spanish capital which is the third largest city in the European Union, behind London and Berlin, with a population of over 3.2 million.

The students have visited the Spanish Royal Palace and an Egyptian Temple from the Valley of the Kings which was donated to the Spanish government.

The girls also travelled to the city of Segovia which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with many monuments from the Roman era including its famous aqueduct.

They also toured El Escorial a 15th century palace and monastery where they learned a great deal about Spanish history and they are availing of every opportunity to put their Spanish language skills to good use.
