MOTOR enthusiasts from Kerry and several other counties converged on Killarney to take part in an annual charity car run organised by local man Kevin O’Donoghue and, in the process, they raised thousands of euro for a great cause.

The event was held in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation which seeks to raise awareness of common cancers affecting both men and women and to provide vital services to support families who are struggling financially as a result.

Nearly 80 cars participated in the event and they raised an impressive €3,000. The cheque was presented by Kevin O’Donoghue to Marie Keating’s Killarney representative Joanne Pierce.
Charity director, Linda Keating, remarked: “We are very grateful to everyone who took part and to all the businesses who got behind it by donating spot prizes.

“Our huge thanks also goes to Kevin O’Donoghue and Tony Murphy for organising this. They are a great asset to their community.”
Kevin O’Donoghue, remarked: “Each year we hold this event for a different charity and this year we were thrilled to do the car run for the Marie Keating Foundation since cancer touches so many people.

“We were really delighted with the support we got from local business and from the gardaí and we are looking forward to doing the whole thing again next year.”
