Killarney Lions Club is holding an open night for the benefit of those interested in helping the community or those who just want to find out more about what the club actually does.

It will take place at the KDYS Youth Centre in Killarney on Thursday, November 10 from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

The event will be informal and everyone can move around between different exhibitions about Killarney Lions Club activities.

Club volunteers will be present to chat about initiatives such as the annual Christmas Food Appeal, environmental work, the Kerry Clubs Fair and providing support to local community organisations.

Many of the activities involve transition year students from Killarney’s three secondary schools who will also be represented on the night.

President of Killarney Lions Club, Denis Doolan, said the Lions motto is ‘we serve’ and it really is as simple as that.

“We try to do things every year that help individuals and groups in the Killarney area. A lot of people might not know that, so we look forward to welcoming anyone who can come along to the open night, see and hear about our various activities and maybe even get involved afterwards,” he said.

The Killarney Lions Club, through its members, assists various groups and individuals in and around the community. Lions do this through voluntary activities, fundraising and by holding various types of events in support of a great many local causes.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be available on the night and the KDYS Killarney is located at Fair Hill, eircode V93 W0FH.
