Even the weather gods are playing their part on this St Patrick’s Day as Killarney gets set to host the street party of the year with the bumper March 17 celebrations just about getting underway,
The parade – with a theme of Echoes of Killarney Present – will commence at 2.00pm and this year there is a whopping 65 participating groups confirmed.
The spectacular celebration of all things Irish will wind its way from Mission Road, along East Avenue Road, College Street, Plunkett Street, Main Street – where the review platform will be located – and New Street where the party will continue ling into the evening.

The parade grand marshals are Kerry captain Gavin White, ladies’ GAA legend Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh and Ireland Paralympics star Jordan Lee.
There will be immense fun at the Plunge for Palliative event at the Beech Road car park from 4.00pm, with a host of local celebrities and politicians due to be soaked for a great cause – and the public will have a hand on who is dunked.
Commenting on this year’s festival, event chairperson Jason Clifford, remarked: “Killarney is one Ireland’s top tourist destinations and each year we strive to bring a biggerand better festival to the community and to our visitors. This year is no different and we have a magnificent line-up of events and entertainment”.
The celebrations will continue long into the evening with music on the streets and in the pubs and a great atmosphere for the unofficial launch of the 2025 season in Ireland’s premier tourist town.
