Killarney has cause to be Happy

IT might not be the original but many will argue that it’s certainly one of the best for Killarney has never been known to do anything in half measures.

Men, women, children and even horses got in on the act for a new video that shows the world that the town is indeed a happening, happy place.

It’s the Youtube sensation that has featured in many parts of the globe with local faces dancing for joy in local places to the beat of rapper Pharrell Williams’ smash hit tune Happy.

Not surprisingly, given that the town does most things exceptionally well, the Killarney version is a high-quality production that has been filmed at various locations in and around the town over several weeks.

Spearheading the creative team behind the ‘Killarney is also Happy’ short film was talented photographer Pawel Nowak and Wuzo Film Productions and they were joined in the fun process by Wadim Kuglin, Grace Madden and Besmir Haziri while the Zumba Salsa Kerry members also had a big part to play.

The Youtube upload features smiling, happy people dancing on the streets, behind the counters at their places of work and even in shop windows and several visitors to the town also joined in the fun.

The film crew captured dancers strutting their stuff at a number of popular visitor locations, including Ladies View and Ross Castle, and even children on their way to school at Holy Cross Mercy were persuaded to step it out.

It goes without saying that no video of Killarney could be complete without an input from the jarveys and if you watch closely enough you’ll see some of their lively horses also straining at the bridle to get in on the dance craze that is sweeping the nation.
