EXCITEMENT is reaching fever pitch in Killarney as a local secondary school is preparing to compete in an All-Ireland football championship final.
St Brigid’s Presentation overcame a stern challenge from Eureka Secondary School from Kells, Co Meath in a pulsating Junior B semi-final tie played at Freshford, Co Kilkenny.
It was a thrilling game that went right down to the wire as the Killarney girls held out for a dramatic one-point victory on a 1-7 to 1-6 scoreline.
Trained by Paudie Breen of Killarney Legion and teacher Adrienne Brosnan, they have now reached the All-Ireland final and their opponents and the match date will be confirmed shortly.
“All the staff and their fellow students wish to congratulate the girls on their great achievement. The school is very proud of them,” said St Brigid’s PRO and teacher Vivienne Buckley.
